As a food reviewer for Restaurant World, I was eager to explore what makes Big Country Restaurant stand out in the thriving landscape of American dining. Renowned for its hearty burgers, fresh salads, and classic dishes, this eatery captures the essence of good, old-fashioned country cooking.
The moment you step inside, you are embraced by a casual and welcoming atmosphere. There’s a delightful sense of nostalgia here, reminiscent of diners where friends gather, families bond, and laughter fills the air. The setup is simple and friendly—no host, just seat yourself and pay at the counter, allowing for a relaxed dining experience.
Customers rave about the variety of offerings available at Big Country. From the slightly crunchy golden french fries to the giant wedgies and perfectly cooked hashbrowns, every bite is a testament to their commitment to homemade goodness. The standout items on their extensive menu, however, might just be the daily specials and the legendary homemade desserts, urging patrons to save room for indulgence. You simply can't miss their famed chocolate lasagna or the delightful cherry delight.
What truly elevates the experience is the friendly and prompt service. As noted by many guests, including Matt C. who humorously noted the zero risk of robbers in such a cozy place, and Leslie W., who highlighted the family-friendly environment complete with activities for kids, Big Country creates an inviting space for guests of all ages.
Mary P.’s words resonate well with my own experiences; every visit feels like a comforting embrace of homemade cooking delivered with a side of warmth and care. It’s not just about the food here; it’s about the love infused into every dish, prepared by a dedicated team who are passionate about serving the community.
Whether you're a local or just passing through, I wholeheartedly recommend a visit to Big Country Restaurant. Explore the quaint streets of downtown Knox while you’re at it, where charming shops and a lovely park await. Good food. Reasonable prices. Zero percent chance anyone tries to rob this place. Waitress is definitely a Sligo 7.

This is a nice little restaurant with a hometown feel. The food is good (theres a variety to choose from), the staff is friendly and prompt and there stuff for the kiddos to do (especially if you have kiddos that get bored easily). The desserts are to die for (try the chocolate lasagna or the cherry delight!). We live close by so we love coming here from time to time! I definitely recommend this restaurant!

Good, old fashioned country home cooking in a casual diner atmosphere (no host, seat yourself, pay at counter). Great for families. Fantastic prices for homemade food, friendly staff and great owners. Specials change daily, long list of homemade desserts (save room for pretzel salad & peanut butter pie) Recommend the french fries (extra crunchy), wedgies (giant), & hashbrowns, although I've never had anything less than delicious here. Check out downtown Knox, has some great shops, bakery, park.
